FOH Engineers Using VTX at the Ryman Auditorium in Nashville w/ Les Banks, Kevin McGinty & Mark Thomas
This session will explore the design and implementation of the JBL VTX system in Nashville’s legendary Ryman Auditorium and include an in-depth discussion with the venue team and veteran mixers about daily challenges.

Les Banks has been doing FOH & Monitor engineering for 35 years. He worked for Sound Image for 10 years and is currently the Ryman Auditorium Production Manager & Audio Supervisor for the past 25 years. Tours include Tom Waits, Emmylou Harris, John Forgerty, Indigo Girls, Marty Stuart and Mary Chapin Carpenter.

In 1986, Kevin “Sarge” McGinty installed a PA at the Exit/In, which led to work with artists including Doug Stone, Paul Brandt, John Berry, Rascal Flatts, Trace Adkins, and The Monkees, just to name a few. He started at the Grand Ole Opry in 2003 and took over as FOH Engineer in 2016.

Mark Thomas has been the Grand Ole Opry Audio Services Supervisor for the past four years, mixed audio for the Opry the 9 years prior to that and also toured for twelve years with major acts. Tours include Leon Russell, Wynonna, Michael McDonald, and the Steve Miller Band. Opry Artists include Garth Brooks, George Jones, Loretta Lynn, and Dolly Parton.
